Area Climate
Forming the southern part of the Kalahari Desert, the North West Province offers almost year-round sunshine, making sun block and hats a prerequisite. Mafikeng enjoys weather common to the greater area of the North West Province, with towns in the western areas only slightly hotter and those further south slightly cooler.

The summer months (from August to March) bring brief but refreshing afternoon thundershowers. The town has an above average rainfall of 300 to 700 mm annually. Summer temperatures range between 22 and 34ºC and winter brings with it dry, sunny days and chilly nights. The average winter (from May to July) temperature is 16ºC but can range from an average of 2 to 20ºC in a single day.

The North West Province is all about the authentic African bush experience, and it is the hot, dry Africa that, if properly prepared for, is truly special. Small wonder, then, that so many indulge in the many water recreational facilities available throughout the region.

The Farm
The farm is made up of 60 hectares of flat, sweet “bushveld” with many mature trees such as white thorn, acacia trees and red bush willows that are all a good source of nutrition for wildlife such as kudu, impala and other herbivores.
One of the most prominent and well-known trees is the Marula tree, which bears fruit in the summer months. The grass growing throughout the farm consists of 50% sweet grass where the other 50% is sour grass.
The perimeter of the property is secured by a 2.1 meter high electrical fence. The main entrance has a security check point.
The property has water rights to the Hartebeespoort dam water scheme. The water is pumped from the canal into the main Earth dam on the property. There are several watering holes and the main water supply for wild life is a large, natural dam. Overlooking the dam is a 15 meter high tower, perfect for sun-downers boasting breath-taking sunset views.
Throughout the bush and next to watering holes you will find a various hides ideal for bird and game watching. Well-maintained gravel roads ensure the best possible opportunities to observe as much wildlife as possible.

Gebieds Klimaat
